Review: Ten Square Hotel Belfast

a building with lights on the side of the street

Ten Square is a boutique hotel located in the centre of Belfast. It is about ten minutes walk from Belfast Central Station and quite convenient to everywhere.

My room cost £105 for a Sunday night stay including breakfast. This is a pretty decent deal as this hotel can cost quite a lot more depending on when you travel.

Check In

The hotel advertises check-in as 3pm and on arrival about 12:30pm, I was told I could not check in. They offered to take my bag, but it was fine so I decided to come back later

At 2:40pm, I tried again and no, my room was not available. At 3:10pm, I came back and was told the same again – but then a bit of typing in the system led to me being given my key.

Ten Square Hotel Room

An expansion of the hotel added the rooms such as the one I stayed in. Upon entering you can see a desk and a large bed, plus there are doors to a tiny Juliet balcony.

Shoe horned into the space is a desk, chair and a separate arm chair. Bed side tables flank the bed, plus there is a television on the wall. There is a small area to hang clothes beside the bathroom and Wireless Internet is provided free.

Ten Square Bathroom

Bathrooms feature both a rain shower and a standard hand held which is nice. A generously sized basin with a mixer tap is also present, plus a heated towel rail.

Everything was clean and well presented, which is no surprise as it’s so new. The shower is fantastic – I always enjoy a decent rain shower so that was very nice.

Other Amenities

Tea and coffee making facilities are also provided, as well as a fridge. It’s not a mini-bar, but it is handy if you want to bring your own items. Inside are two bottles of water which I believe are complimentary.

Beside the bed in one of the bed side tables is a hair dryer. Also provided in another area are an iron and ironing board, staples of decent hotel rooms around the world.

Breakfast In The Room

While breakfast is included in the room rate, that is downstairs in the restaurant. There is a card provided in the room which informs you that for £5.00 extra you can tick what you want and it will be brought to you. Perfect for post party hangover mornings!

Breakfast finishes at 10:00am and mine was delivered with apologies around 10:30am. Food quality is faultless and I thoroughly enjoyed my meal. Considering it came at a more brunch type time, I was able to skip lunch altogether which suited me just fine.

Overall Thoughts

Staying at Ten Square Hotel in Belfast is quite pleasant. It appears to be popular with wedding parties as many people were running around dressed up in suits obviously there for that kind of event.

The lobby is really small and I found the check-in process to be a bit annoying. Apparently not having any room available even twenty minutes before time is a bit mean spirited. In return, I left the room at 11:30am instead of the official check-out time of 11:00am.

Service from the staff was generally friendly even if they did seem a bit frazzled at times. Have you stayed in Ten Square in Belfast? What did you think? Thanks for reading and if you have any comments or questions, please leave them below.
