With much fanfare, Chase refreshed their premier consumer card, the Chase Sapphire Reserve back in June this year. Chase also introduced a brand new Chase Sapphire Reserve for Business credit card as well, with a massive welcome bonus of 200,000 Chase Ultimate Rewards points. However, after launching these cards, Chase has also tightened restrictions pertaining to who can get that card.

For miles and points hobbyists, that makes things a bit difficult as many of us have had the card in the past. On the Chase Sapphire Reserve, Chase is now out with a brand new offer of 175,000 Chase Ultimate Rewards points. However, given all the new restrictions in place, how does one find out which offer one is eligible for? One option is that you can simply walk into a Chase branch near you and ask a personal banker to check which offers you qualify for. If you aren’t able to do that, then try out these methods to check what type of welcome bonus you qualify for.

If you’re wondering whether you qualify for a bonus, then here are a couple of methods that you can use.

Chase Pre-Approval Tool

One way you can find out if you qualify for an offer is by simply clicking on this link. This will take you to Chase’s page where you’ll need to enter all your details to find out if you qualify for any credit card offers from Chase. You’ll need to enter details like your first and last name, address, social security number and annual income. Once that’s done, click on the ‘find my offers’ button.

I entered all my details, but got the following message.

Chase Account Offers

If you have a bank account or any other credit cards with Chase, then simply log into your account. Click on the menu on the top left hand side corner. Then click on Credit Cards. Some people may see these targeted offers also in the ‘just for you’ section.

I logged into my account and clicked on the ‘credit cards’ banner. While the link to the pre-approval tool showed no offers for me, I was surprised to see that I was ‘pre-approved’ for the Chase Sapphire Reserve when I logged into my account.

Unfortunately, the offer showed that I qualified for a bonus of 125,000 points instead of the 175,000 points bonus that many people are seeing.

The Pundit’s Mantra

While a 175k points offer would be great, I’m not surprised at all at the fact that I’m not getting a higher offer. I first picked up the Chase Sapphire Reserve in 2016 after it was launched. I then canceled it once Chase increased the fee to $550. Ever since, I’ve carried my Chase Sapphire Reserve card as the ‘go to’ Chase card in my wallet.

While Chase has been adding new restrictions to many of their cards, it’s always great to see them adding these pre-approval tools to remove ambiguity about the welcome bonus qualification criteria.

Which method worked for you? Which welcome bonus did you get targeted for? Tell us in the comments section.
