Something fishy is going on at SAS!

Eating is always very fishy in Scandinavia, be it the ubiquitous picked herring or other fish, it’s a staple of the diet. Whenever I’ve been to Sweden or Finland, I’ve found the use of fish to be quite good and very tasty.

I’ve recently gone off piste and booked away from my usual airlines of choice. I’m heading off on a little five flight jaunt to Umeå early near year to keep my recently approved status match with SAS.

Fishy Deals

When booking the trip, part of the flow allows you to pre-order meals. I was offered food for purchase on London Heathrow to Oslo and Stockholm to London Heathrow, these being the two longest sectors on my trip.

Remembering how much I enjoyed my Norwegian fjord Salmon preserved in Swedish elderberries with boiled wheat when I flew SAS back in 2017, I eagerly made my choices. No food is available for pre-order on Oslo to Stockholm or Stockholm to Umeå, however you could order food for the return, Umeå to Stockholm. I imagine this is because there is no lounge in that airport and as it’s a 06:25 departure, people need to be fed. Let’s hope it makes my list of Top 5 airline breakfast meals, because it’s really easy to ruin breakfast on a plane!

Overall Thoughts

I’m sure the lovely Scandinavians will serve deliciously fishy, meaty, breakfasty treats for me on those three flights. Since I love to eat when flying, I can’t wait to sample the goodies available on SAS.

It’s interesting that pre-order is not really a thing so much on airlines. The way SAS do it during their booking flow is very easy and there are also a good number of options. I think other airlines are may be missing a trick by not doing this.

What do you think of the food available for purchase on Scandinavian Airlines? Thank you for reading and if you have any comments or questions, please leave them below.
