I cannot believe this is not spoken about enough, but there is a simple way to save money on WestJet Premium (Domestic Business Class). While I personally love Air Canada, WestJet provides a great opportunity to fly Business Class at a very cheap price, subject to availability, at time of check-in. When you combine this with the Delta and WestJet partnership, this is a great way to fly Business Class consistently, at a very cheap price, on every domestic flight in Canada.
Saving Money on Travel
I am one of the few full service travel agents who helps people with their end-to-end itinerary planning. As part of my work, I often come across different opportunities to help customers save money. I hope to share some of my findings with the wider public. As usual, in the world of travel hacking, not everything will be shared publicly. Too much public exposure can often undermine the deal we work to get for our customers.

Upgrade Pricing on WestJet
This is the upgrade pricing for a flight from Kelowna to Toronto. It is $99 + taxes. It is in fact, cheaper than Economy Comfort (their extra legroom seating with recline).

Combining with Delta and WestJet Partnership
This deal gets elevated further since WestJet typically extends last seat availability to Delta SkyMiles in their Economy Class cabin. You can book last minute, on the flight that has Premium seats available, and for 17,500 points + $150 roughly, find yourself in a guaranteed Premium cabin seat for all your domestic flights.
Risks of Upgrades
WestJet Premium upgrades are non-refundable. Beyond that, this is otherwise a rather risk free approach in flying premium cabins consistently across North America.
Conclusion
When used strategically, buying points to save money on hotel stays can represent savings. My largest saving to date has been on a points reservation that saved the client 65%.
Yes, booking on points does not benefit me, however, it benefits the client, which is my most important criteria.
