Background and Access

The Virgin Atlantic Clubhouse at London’s Heathrow Airport (LHR) has been on my list of top lounges to visit due to how hip it looks and the rave reviews it gathers. Before my flight from London (LHR) to New York (JFK) in August 2025, I had some time during my connection to check out the Clubhouse to see what it was all about.

The Clubhouse is located in Heathrow’s Terminal 3, where all Virgin Atlantic and partner Delta Air Lines flights leave from. The Clubhouse is open from 5:30 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. or the last departure.

To find the lounge, once past security in Terminal 3, follow the signs to lounge area H.

The Virgin Atlantic Clubhouse London (LHR) is among just 6 in the world. They are also located in Los Angeles (LAX), New York (JFK), Johannesburg (JNB), San Francisco (SFO), and Washington D.C (IAD). My access was granted due to flying in the Upper Class Cabin (Business Class), from London (LHR) to New York (JFK).

Access to the Virgin Atlantic Clubhouse (LHR) is restricted to:

  • Passengers flying Upper Class on Virgin Atlantic, plus 1 guest (if the guest is traveling on the same flight)
  • Passengers in Delta One on Delta with no guest
  • Passengers with Delta 360, Diamond, Platinum Medallion status, if they are traveling in Delta Premium Select or Premium Economy on Virgin Atlantic (plus one guest).
  • Flying Blue Platinum Members, in premium economy on Virgin Atlantic or Delta, plus 1 guest (if flying on the same flight).
  • Virgin Atlantic Flying Club Gold Card members, plus 1 guest (if traveling with Virgin Atlantic or Delta)

Access to the lounge is allowed only from 3 hours before departure (unless you are connecting via Heathrow).

The lounge is quite spacious, and you’re able to see the vast size once you walk in, as it immediately opens into the main space. There is a long, sleek bar towards the back.

On the left, you have dining and areas to relax, and in the back, you have spaces overlooking the tarmac.

My flight was pretty late on a Monday, the last flight to New York. I was at the lounge around 6 pm, and it was quite empty.  The vibe was modern and hip, but also a bit retro. I enjoyed it!

The lounge is stated to be over 26,000 square feet over 2 levels (3 if you count the observation deck).

The upstairs portion was small, with just a small seating area and an outdoor observation deck. The deck was on the smaller side, but nice to have in good weather. It was a bit windy on the day I visited, so I decided to stay indoors.

Fitness and Relaxation Area

To the right of the lounge when you enter, you have the relaxation and shower area. There is a yoga area that looks tranquil as well.

Here’s there were also shower rooms you could reserve if you wanted to freshen up.

They used to have a small salon, but this was axed during the pandemic. Would have been nice to see its offerings!

With bathrooms, there are 2 sets, one near the minigym and one near the Brasserie; they have individual stalls and were kept well-maintained.

Dining

Throughout the lounge, you could order from QR code online menus, and the lounge attendants will deliver you food and drinks. Or, you could sit at a more traditional dining table at the Brasserie.

The Brasserie, is the restaurant serving à la carte dining, was located to the left of the entrance, just past the Deli, which is the equivalent of the buffet. At the Deli, you order from what’s on display, and during my visit, it was mainly cold cuts.

I decided to have a full meal during my visit, so I sat down at the Brasserie. I found the service to be good and all the food to be quite tasty!

I ordered a Pan-Fried Sea Bass and Sticky Korean Chicken Wings. And of course, ice cream for dessert. All were lovely.

The Verdict

Overall, I found the Virgin Atlantic Clubhouse London (LHR) to be quite a nice lounge to relax at. I would love to revisit sometime in the future!
