Background and Location
I did a quick one-night stay at the Marriott Melville, Long Island, since I had a Marriott Certificate that was expiring soon, and a friend was in town, and we wanted to get a bit out of the city to check out the Hamptons the next day.
The hotel is located about 35 miles from New York City, and is around 60 miles away from Southampton. Near this hotel are a lot of corporations, and there is also the upscale Walt Whitman Shops about 3 miles away.

Takeoff Points for the Marriott Melville Long Island
Date of Stay: October 2025
Pros: Newly updated & clean rooms.
Cons: The Towels weren’t the best quality, and the continental breakfast selection wasn’t the best.
Takeoff Point: The Marriott Melville Long Island offers a typical Marriott stay—comfortable and predictable—with the bonus of updated rooms.
Arrival and Lobby
We arrived in the evening and were quickly helped to check in. Two weddings were being hosted over the weekend, and we saw a lot of gift bags. There is also a Gift Shop/Sundries store located across the reception.

The Marriott Melville Long Island has a really unique (and odd) atrium design. Many room windows overlook this indoor atrium, and perhaps the most bizarre thing is that there are walkways on each floor in front of these floor-to-ceiling windows. So you literally walk right outside of someone’s window. Thankfully, our room faced towards the outside.

The Room: 2 Queen Beds
Our room was located on the top floor (4th), and it felt recently renovated and pretty fresh. Some aspects were a bit dated, like the alarm clock & bathroom door, but they were only minor detractors.

There was a small chair and table near the window, as well as a desk chair in front of the TV. A coffee maker was provided, as well as a mini fridge for personal use.
The bedding was decent, though the comforter was a bit too thin.
Oddly, the closet had a huge plastic bag of extra bedding, and I think it would have looked better if it were in a more proper form of storage.

The bathroom was a three-piece, with solid counter space at the sink and a stand-up shower. The only thing missing was a hairdryer, and the towels could have been of higher quality.

Overall, the room was perfectly acceptable for a night’s rest, and I slept pretty well.
Amenities
A solidly sized indoor pool is located near the fitness center, and the fitness center is quite large, though on the dated side.

The hotel offers an M Club Lounge located in the lobby, but it closes on the weekends. Since we stayed Friday night and checked out Saturday, it was closed during our stay. It reopens Sunday evening and ends with breakfast service on Friday.
Dining
The Great Room Restaurant is open all day and also features a bar.
Since the M Club Lounge was closed, with my Marriott Bonvoy Platinum, at least we received continental breakfast for 2, and we could pay $6 each to upgrade to the full buffet with hot items & have access to the omelet bar. We decided to upgrade since the omelet bar looked good, but I did wish they just included it rather than nickel & dimming.

On the plus side, the omelets were great, and the omelet chef was very friendly and pleasant.

The buffet itself was mediocre, with the hot dishes not the best. The bacon was super dry and unflavored, but at least the Eggs Benedict was decent.

The Verdict
Overall, I had a comfortable stay at the Marriott Melville Long Island, and it served its purposes for our little weekend getaway.
