The Bankside Hotel, part of the upscale Autograph Collection in the Marriott portfolio, is in London. It’s located virtually on the River Thames, just down from the Tate Modern near both Southwark and Blackfriars underground stations.
Some friends and I were in London for a Christmas party and this is where we stayed. It was close enough to where we needed to be and it fit our criteria quite well.
A Room At The Bankside Hotel
The two rooms I saw were very similar, with the accessible version being somewhat larger to accommodate wheelchairs. Interesting touches were the notices made of wood, which I think is a terribly smart idea. It’s both environmentally friendlier than re-printing paper all the time and it just looks like quality.
Bar and Breakfast
Before heading out we had a beer in the bar. The service was a little slow as they didn’t seem to know whether we’d been served or not, but it all worked out in the end.
Overall Thoughts
What struck me most about the Bankside Hotel was when we were waiting in the lobby for Ubers and what not. On two or three different occasions, the guests were chatting to the reception staff. I was shamelessly eavesdropping and overheard one person say he remembered the Receptionist from his last stay two years ago, while another pair remarked it was great to be back as they always stay at this place in London. I overheard others comment in the same vein. Unless this was a plant by the Marriott HQ, I think that says more than I can about this hotel.
I had no complaints at all, from the service to the breakfast to the rooms. The Bankside Hotel has a really nice vibe and I’ll be happy to stay there again anytime. What do you think of this hotel? Thank you for reading and if you have any comments or questions, please leave them below.

My wife and I visited London earlier this year and both of us really liked that neighborhood.
