In the world of miles and points, news about a deal spreads fast but a rumor often spreads faster. If it’s something good, then people jump up in joy and anticipation. If it’s something perceived as a net negative, then there’s confusion and panic. Similar confusion erupted on Reddit and other forums when one user shared a screenshot about Chase making changes to their Lyft benefits offer on their Chase Sapphire Cards.

Chase Sapphire Benefits with Lyft

With the Chase Sapphire Reserve card, cardmembers enjoy special benefits with Lyft:

  • Earn 5x Chase Ultimate Rewards points for every dollar you spend with Lyft (Until Sept 30, 2027)
  • $10 each month in the form of in-app credits with Lyft (Until Sept 30, 2027)

On the Chase Sapphire Preferred, cardmembers also enjoy the same earn rate of 5x, but they don’t earn any monthly credits like they do on the Reserve.

You’ll earn 5X points on qualifying Lyft products and services purchased through the Lyft mobile application through 09/30/2027. That’s 3 additional points on top of the 2 points earned on travel purchases in the rewards program. Qualifying Lyft products and services include rideshare; bike and scooter rides; and subscription and membership products. Purchase of gift cards, car rentals, vehicle service centers, miscellaneous fees and other Lyft products and services are excluded from this promotion. Future Lyft products or services may not be eligible. Additional points will appear on your billing statement in a separate line from base points. Lyft is not responsible for the provision of, or the failure to provide, Chase benefits or services. See Earning in the Rewards Program for more information about earning points.

What’s Causing Confusion

A Reddit user shared this screenshot about an email from Chase. Many people thought that indeed this benefit is going to be pulled soon.

r/ChaseSapphire - Losing Lyft Benefits in 2026?

People were confused as only certain people had received the email while others hadn’t. Eventually, Chase officially confirmed on the same thread that this was an email only meant for customers who still have the no annual fee Chase Sapphire card. Chase confirmed that there were no plans to make any changes to benefits on the Preferred and Reserve cards.

The Pundit’s Mantra

For people who use the Lyft benefit frequently, it’s indeed relieving to see that Chase doesn’t plan on making any changes to this benefit on their Sapphire Cards. For people who frequently book Lyft rides, this is a very valuable benefit as it helps them quickly rack up a lot of Chase Ultimate Rewards points.
