Who wants a tour of the Qantas Sydney Domestic T3 Business Lounge?

The Flight Detective

The Qantas Sydney Domestic business lounge is the premium domestic lounge at that city. Below that is the standard Qantas Club, and above that is the invitation only Chairman’s Lounge, only available by invitation for A-List celebrities, Politicians and people like that.

Qantas Clubs are available with a membership and oneworld Sapphire frequent flyers have access. Business class passengers and those with oneworld Emerald status may use the domestic business lounges where available.

The Qantas Sydney Domestic Business Lounge

I was flying from Sydney to Adelaide at what is this o’clock in the morning. After passing through security, I arrived at the lounge and joined perhaps 20 others waiting for it to open, as I was a few minutes early. The advantage, as it turned out, was that when we went in, everyone headed for the food like pigs to the trough, while I had time to get pictures without anyone around.

It’s quite a large lounge and usually it is heaving with people. As you can see, there are many types of seating available. Those needing to work have desks and those wanting to relax have comfortable seats. There are also high top seats and many others.

Food and Drink

Each Qantas Domestic Business lounge has a themed area for food and in Sydney it’s the Panini Bar. On offer this morning were toasted ciabatta with scramble (sic) egg, crispy bacon, cheddar and aoili, or toasted mango coconut banana bread served with whipped honey butter, mixed berry and maple syrup, or you could have avocado toast, semi dried tomato, basil, balsamic glaze and lemon.

You could opt for a healthy breakfast or not. For example, in addition to a full breakfast with bacon and eggs, you could have blueberry yoghurt, Bircher muesli, chia pudding, cereals, breads, Danish and Croissants. Plenty of choice for the people heading from plane to office. Happily there is a busy barista doing very nice coffee too!

Overall Thoughts

The Qantas Sydney Domestic Business lounge is very nice. It has sweeping views over the apron above the aircraft, which gives the facility a real sense of place.

Unfortunately the main buffet area is literally right after you enter, so it’s always packed with people. I’ve always thought it was a faintly ridiculous location for the food, right in the middle of all the hustle and bustle, but it’s been like that since it opened.
