Qantas is launching flights to Las Vegas. These will be the first-ever nonstop scheduled flights between Sydney (SYD) and Las Vegas (LAS). It marks a new chapter in the airline’s trans-Pacific network and expanding choice for travelers between Australia and the United States. The seasonal service will operate three times weekly beginning Dec. 29, 2026 through March 12, 2027. The flight will be on Qantas’ Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners and will take around 13 hours and 55 minutes westbound. This is a standout addition to Qantas’ growing long-haul network and underscores strong leisure and event-driven demand, as the flight will fly around the CES Festival in Las Vegas.

New Flight Details
Flight QF55 and QF56, the SYD–LAS route will depart Sydney late evening and arrive mid-afternoon Pacific Time in Las Vegas. The return departs Las Vegas in the evening for an early-morning Sydney arrival two days later (due to time difference). This flight cuts up to five hours off previous travel itineraries as stops at LAX or SFO were necessary. Tickets are on sale now with, and flights are strategically timed around events such as CES and the National Rugby League Las Vegas Festival.

How Las Vegas Fits to Qantas Route Network
Las Vegas becomes Qantas’ 101st global destination and its eighth city in the Americas, joining hubs like Los Angeles, New York, San Francisco, Dallas and Honolulu. It complements seasonal long-haul services to Europe and Japan. This flight launches on the eve of Qantas receiving their first A350-100, which will launch Project Sunrise. Project Sunrise will include non-stop flights from Sydney to London and New York, and are anticipated to launch in 2027.

The American Airlines Joint Venture
This new Las Vegas route will benefit from the Qantas–American Airlines joint venture. Frequent flyers of both airlines will enjoy loyalty program benefits, as will the broader oneworld alliance partners. Other oneworld partners, such as Alaska, are likely to codeshare on this flight, making it a likely safe bet.
Conrado’s Thoughts
Qantas’ new nonstop Las Vegas service is both symbolic and practical. It opens a major leisure destination with strong, seasonal, demand from Australia. With the Qantas-American joint venture allowing the airlines to cooperate, and Alaska Airlines likely codeshharing, this flight will likely be very popular. Can’t wait to see Project Sunrise join Qantas routes to the US.
