Priority Pass Review: Kafe Kalik Fort Lauderdale Airport

Kafe Kalik

UPDATE: A reader brought to my attention that Kafe Kalik is NOT accepting Priority Pass at the time…The website states that “Due to current travel restrictions impacting the area this lounge is temporarily closed.”

Background:

Priority Pass just added a restaurant option inside Fort Lauderdale Airport (FLL), called Kafe Kalik which offers Caribbean inspired food. On my latest trip out of FLL, I had a chance to visit Kafe Kalik before my flight!

Kafe Kalik Location:

Kafe Kalik is located in Terminal 4, next to gate G6. Also, it is open from 6am-10pm daily. My JetBlue flight was departing from Terminal 3, and it took about 10-15 minutes to walk to it. Thankfully as of 2016, Terminals 3 and 4 at Fort Lauderdale Airport are connected airside (post-security)! Unfortunately, if you’re leaving from Terminals 1 and 2, there’s no post-security bridge.

Priority Pass Credit:

With Priority Pass, you’re entitled to $28 worth of food and beverages (just not gratuity). Similarly, like the PF Changs at LAX, you’re not capped out at only bringing one guest like some other Priority Pass Restaurants. So, I was able to use my card and bring my parents as two guests, giving us a total of $84 towards food!

Unfortunately, starting August 1st, 2019, US issued American Express cards won’t be offering benefits at Priority Pass restaurants. Sad!!!

I arrived around 4pm on Saturday and it was pretty crowded! Thankfully, I didn’t have to wait as there was seating available in the back.

For our food, we had the Guava Baby Back Ribs, Tamarind Salmon and Da Bahamian Burger.

The ribs were good and it was a large portion, just a bit too saucy. I also enjoyed the salmon (after wiping off some of the sauce as well) and dad thought the burger was decent. For airport food, it was pretty decent!

A major complaint would be that the beer list didn’t have prices, and mom’s Blue Moon amounted to $11.50 when the check came! Crazy. A cocktail was $13…. #RipOff? And the restaurant was really sticky, like the menus and table. All sticky. Seems like they should improve on cleaning!

Furthermore with all that we ordered, we only owed $2.50 + tip! Not too shabby.

Side note: there were power plugs (USB + outlets) at our seat! Nice!

The Verdict:

It’s nice that Fort Lauderdale Airport finally got its first Priority Pass location. I’m happy that on my first trip out of FLL I got to visit the restaurant! Certainly, it’s nice to have some food before a flight.

  1. We have a Priority Pass and in Fort Lauderdale, when trying to get service at the airport from Kafe Kalik, they said they were no longer honoring Priority Pass card holders and were not providing any service but by paying with no use for the Priority Pass. We decided not even try their food or beverages. That place and the lack of updating information from PP is a real disappointment in every aspect you can think of.

      1. No I was just there. The manager said their priority pass machine is down and doesn’t know how to fix it. Pretty disappointing.

  2. Dear Ty, good too see you got two guests with you. I am visiting FLL a couple of times in the next month and with two guests so I was wondering if the two guest policy still remain with them. The priority pass page doesnt say in great detail how many guest, so I was wondering if I should call them and check if they allow two guest or just one? or none 🙁 Any heads up will be great!

  3. When checking today (12/25/19), the Priority Pass website doesn’t list Kafe Kalik; does anyone know it if is still an option.

    Thanks
