Summer flying season in the northern hemisphere means queues, crowds and stress when it comes to travel. Airports, train stations and ports are thronged with people, making a relaxing holiday anything but that. Some airlines offer overnight bag drop to reduce the travel day stress and Aer Lingus is one of those.

Taking your checked luggage to the airport the evening before is very handy. Not only are the terminals much quieter, but you can process the necessary formalities quickly and with ease. This makes travel day an absolute breeze as all you need to do is go through security screening.

Overnight Bag Drop at Aer Lingus

Between April and September, the Irish airline offers overnight bag drop at three locations. First up is their home base of Dublin, where you can drop bags between 16:00 and 22:00 for flights departing between 05:30 and 08:00 the following morning.

Those using Cork Airport on the south coast can leave luggage between 17:30 and 19:30 for flights leaving between 06:00 and 08:00. Finally, the service is also available in Scotland’s popular capital, Edinburgh. You can head to the airport between 17:45 and 19:45 for flights leaving from 07:00 to 12:00.

Overall Thoughts

All the details around overnight bag drop are on the Aer Lingus website. I’ve used the service before with another airline, and it’s really lovely not having to worry about check-in queues first thing in the morning and to just zip on through security.

Many other airlines around Europe offer the service, so I would suggest looking those up. Anything to make the airport stress free and the start of a holiday a little more fun, right?
