If you’ve been following the miles & points space for a while, then you may recall that the highly anticipated Thompson Miami Beach was abruptly canceled last year, just weeks before its scheduled October 2025 opening date. The property is opening after all, but just not under the Hyatt flag. Marriott Bonvoy has swooped in and the building is now set to debut as UNFRAMED, Autograph Collection this April 2026.

New Marriott Bonvoy Property: Design & Location

Modern hotel lobby with curved seating

The building was designed by acclaimed French architect Rudy Ricciotti and the exterior is immediately striking: sweeping, undulating white curves that are apparently designed to evoke the sensuality of the French Riviera.

Once you step inside, you’ll find interiors by Icelandic designer Gulla Jónsdóttir, who has leaned into tropical modernism and South American flair. All the rooms feature either balconies or outdoor terraces. The overall aesthetic is best described as a European boutique sensibility filtered through a distinctly Miami lens.

The hotel sits at the corner of Washington Avenue and 17th Street, directly overlooking Soundscape Park and The Fillmore. The Frank Gehry-designed New World Symphony Center is steps away, as are The Bass Museum of Art and the Miami Beach Convention Center. You’re also a short walk from Lincoln Road Mall.

Restaurant & Bar

The hotel has partnered with French resortwear brand Vilebrequin to launch Vilebrequin La Plage, an 18,000-square-foot rooftop restaurant and bar that will mark the brand’s first-ever U.S. location.

The space was designed by Paris-based creative Vincent Darré and the menu will be led by French-born Executive Chef Gregory Gourreau, drawing on the flavors of southern France while incorporating local South Florida produce. The rooftop is slated to open in May 2026. Beyond Vilebrequin La Plage, the property also features three bars and a rooftop pool with cabanas.

Marriott Bonvoy Redemptions

Now, here’s where things get interesting for us. As an Autograph Collection property, UNFRAMED is part of the Marriott Bonvoy ecosystem and is fully bookable with points.

Why This Opening Matters

Marriott positions The Autograph Collection brand as a collection of independent-spirited hotels with distinct identities.

For Miami visitors who are already Marriott Bonvoy loyalists, this is a great new option to have available. For those with a stash of Marriott Bonvoy points burning a hole in their accounts, it’s worth keeping this one on your radar as rates and availability develop in the coming weeks.

The Pundit’s Mantra

I looked up dates for a weekend in April and here’s what it looks like. 190,000 Marriott Bonvoy points for a two night weekend stay. The cash price comes out to $1,527 for two nights. That amounts to a cents per point value of around 0.8 cents per point. However, bear in mind that Marriott Bonvoy doesn’t have an award chart and these rates can vary based on seasonality.

After scanning prices for the rest of the year, I found a pattern. The standard range per night varies between 74,000 points at the lower end to 100,000 points at the higher end. Why this matters is because you can easily use your free night certificate from the Marriott Bonvoy Brilliant card to book a night at this property.

Also, at the lower price point, your free night certificate from the Marriott Bonvoy Business Card can also work, given that Marriott Bonvoy now allows you to top up a maximum of 25,000 points per night. At the moment, American Express is offering higher than usual welcome bonuses on their co-branded credit cards with Marriott Bonvoy and you can earn up to 200,000 points or 5 free night certificates!
