After Marriott acquired Starwood, both Chase and Amex have been sharing the co-branded credit card portfolio with Marriott Bonvoy. It can be really difficult to understand the fine print when it comes to sign up bonus restrictions, given the different number of cards on offer. However, there’s also a positive side. We now have more options, given that there are six cards split between two issuers. As per a new survey, it seems like American Express may be considering adding to that lineup of credit cards.
Survey about New Marriott Bonvoy Credit Card
As per Doctor of Credit, surveys are being sent out asking about possible features that customers would desire in a more premium version of a co-branded business credit card with Marriott Bonvoy. Amex is sending out this survey to certain cardmembers, which hints at the initial phases of getting some feedback about possible features customers would like a co-branded business credit card.
At the moment, American Express already has the Marriott Bonvoy Business Card. That card carries an annual fee of $125 and can be considered low or mid tier. However, the survey questions point to something much more premium, priced around the $600 annual fee mark.
That would put the card in the same league as the Marriott Bonvoy Brilliant Card, which is a consumer credit card. The Marriott Bonvoy Brilliant card carries an annual fee of $650. It also offers complimentary Platinum Elite status to cardholders. Moreover, customers also enjoy one free night certificate when they renew the card each year. In essence, a business version of the same card could have some of the following features:
- Complimentary Platinum Elite Status
- Annual fee of $650
- 6x points on spend with Marriott Bonvoy (same as on the Marriott Bonvoy Brilliant card)
- Accelerated earnings for select business purchases like office supply stores, telephone services and shipping (5x ?)
- Annual Free Night Certificate upon renewal (85k, same as on the Marriott Bonvoy Brilliant card)
- 20 elite night credits each year
The Pundit’s Mantra
Obviously, this is just a survey by American Express seeking opinions from card members about future products. These can be hit or miss. In the past, some have actually materialized into actual product launches. However, others have simply withered away with no follow up whatsoever.
