We’ve seen Amex launch a slew of points transfer bonuses off late. Recently, I wrote this post about whether you should transfer points when points transfer bonuses are up for grabs. Chase has now jumped on to the bandwagon with three new transfer bonuses, valid until mid January next year. Let’s have a look.
Chase points transfer bonuses
Usually, you can transfer Chase points to their travel partners at a 1:1 ratio. With these new offers, you will earn bonus points when you transfer over points to select transfer partners.
Air Canada Aeroplan: Up to 30%
With this transfer bonus, you will earn a 20% transfer bonus when you convert Chase Ultimate Rewards points into Aeroplan points. Instead of the standard 1:1 ratio, you’ll earn 1,200 Aeroplan points for each batch of 1,000 Chase points you transfer over. This offer ends on January 15, 2024.
This offer gets even better if you’re a Chase Aeroplan cardholder. You’ll earn an additional 10%, making it a 30% transfer bonus for you. However, your additional bonus is capped at 25,000 bonus points per calendar year. You can simply max this out by transferring points in December 2024 and then again max out in January 2025.
Air France/KLM Flying Blue: 20% bonus
With this transfer bonus, you will earn a 20% transfer bonus when you convert Chase Ultimate Rewards points into Flying Blue miles. Instead of the standard 1:1 ratio, you’ll earn 1,200 Flying Blue miles for each batch of 1,000 Chase points you transfer over. This offer ends on January 15, 2024.
IHG One Rewards: 70% bonus
With this transfer bonus, you will earn a 70% transfer bonus when you convert Chase Ultimate Rewards points into IHG points. Instead of the standard 1:1 ratio, you’ll earn 1,700 IHG points for each batch of 1,000 Chase points you transfer over. This offer ends on January 15, 2024.
The Pundit’s Mantra
Points transfer bonuses can go a long way in helping you get closer to your dream trip. However, it’s best that you transfer over if you already have a trip planned or a destination in mind. Transferring over massive amounts of points speculatively in advance can often sting, especially if the loyalty program you transfer to devalues.
Earlier this year, Chase was offering a whopping 70% bonus when converting Chase points into Marriott Bonvoy points. I transferred over 100,000 Chase points to Marriott Bonvoy to book my very first stay at a Ritz Carlton Reserve property and it was truly worth it!
