Just a few days back, I wrote about the brand new welcome bonus offers on Amex credit cards in the Marriott Bonvoy portfolio. After Marriott acquired Starwood hotels, both Chase and Amex have shared the Marriott Bonvoy co-branded card portfolio. However, only Amex had access to business credit cards with Marriott. Now, as per a new survey sent out to certain customers, we could well see new Amex credit cards come out soon.

New Amex Credit Cards with Marriott Bonvoy
As per Doctor of Credit, Amex is sending out a survey to certain customers. This survey points out that Amex may soon launch new credit cards with Marriott Bonvoy. These will be business credit cards that mimic the personal credit cards that American Express offers with Marriott Bonvoy. Here’s a gist of what the new cards would look like.
Card Feature | American Express Marriott Bonvoy Business Card | American Express Marriott Bonvoy Bevy Business Card | American Express Marriott Bonvoy Brilliant Business Card |
Points Multiplier with Marriott | 6x | 6x | 6x |
Other points multipliers | 4x on dining worldwide & gas/shipping/wireless in the US | 4x on dining worldwide & gas/shipping/wireless in the US | 3x on dining worldwide, US gas/shipping/transit |
Complimentary Elite Status | Gold Elite | Gold Elite | Platinum Elite |
Annual Elite Night Credits | 15 | 20 | 25 |
Annual Free Night Certificate | N/A | 65k FNC after spending $25k in a year | 85k FNC |
Other Credits | $160 Marriott Credit (80 x 2) | $120 transit credit ($10×12), $120 wireless credit ($10 x 12) | $120 transit credit ($10×12), $120 wireless credit ($10 x 12), Priority Pass Select, Global Entry/TSA Credit) |
Annual Fee | $150 | $350 | $695 |
The Pundit’s Mantra
I must say, I’m a bit surprised. It will be quite an expansion of the credit card portfolio if Amex does goes ahead and launch these new credit cards soon.
Moreover, the Amex Marriott Business Card charges an annual fee of $125 at the moment. As per the survey, this could increase to $150. Also, if these changes do materialize, then it will only make the qualification criteria for Marriott’s co-branded credit cards even more complicated.
At the moment, I’m carrying the Amex Marriott Bonvoy Brilliant Card and the Chase Marriott Bonvoy Boundless cards in my wallet. At the moment, the Amex Marriott Bonvoy Brilliant Card is offering a welcome bonus of 185,000 Marriott Bonvoy points.
I may pick up a business card in the future but if these changes were to happen, then I’d rather pick up the newer cards with a fresh welcome bonus. What do you think about these rumored changes? Tell us in the comments section.

Does this mean the Amex Marriott Business card would not only increase its AF from $125 to $150 but also lose its currently offered annual free night certificate? That’d be such a horrible change, an increase in the fee while also taking away one of its biggest perks
@Tom: At least based on the survey info that we have currently, it looks like that may be the case. That benefit could likely be replaced by the $160 credit that you see in the chart.
