World of Hyatt points provide amazing value for booking stays. While Hyatt doesn’t have the massive footprint globally that both Marriott and Hilton have, their points still provide amazing value. Moreover, unlike Marriott and Hilton, Hyatt still has an award chart, which makes its pricing more predictable.

Using Hyatt points for a 2.2 CPP return!

Over the last 10 years, I’ve booked multiple stays at the Park Hyatt Hyderabad, India. The Park Hyatt Hyderabad is a fantastic property located in the heart of the city.

I was looking to book a 2 night stay. The average rate per night was $176 per night.

Here’s how Hyatt’s award pricing works. Hyatt has 8 categories, Hyatt divides the pricing for their rooms based on the room category:

  • Standard Room
  • Club Level Room
  • Standard Suite
  • Premium Suite

Moreover, Hyatt’s points pricing varies on seasonaility. In addition to the room type, you have three different categories based on seasonality and demand at the property:

  • Off-peak
  • Standard
  • Peak

In my case, I was only looking to book a Standard room. Part Hyatt Hyderabad belongs to Category 2 on the Hyatt award chart. For my dates in April, Standard pricing applied and one night was costing 8,000 points.

For two nights, I ended up paying 16,000 points for a hotel which would’ve otherwise cost me $352 for 2 nights.

Earning Hyatt Points

In addition to co-branded credit cards, you can also earn Hyatt points via transferable points currencies like Bilt and Chase Ultimate Rewards. At the moment, The Chase Sapphire Preferred is running a limited time welcome bonus of 100,000 Chase Ultimate Rewards points.

Once you meet the minimum spend of $5,000 in 3 months on the card, you’ll earn 100,000 Ultimate Rewards points. You can convert your Chase points into Hyatt points at a 1:1 ratio. In effect, once you meet the required minimum spend, you’ll end up with 100,000 Hyatt points.

The Pundit’s Mantra

Hyatt points continue to provide amazing value, especially at the lower category levels. Given that you can always transfer instantly with Chase, you have a ton of options to book Hyatt stays if you build a decent chunk of Chase Ultimate Rewards points.

Over the years, I’ve derived great value to book some really memorable stays, with CPP values ranging from 1.5 all the way to 6 (especially while booking suites). Some of these amazing stays include properties like Hyatt Ziva Los Cabos, Hyatt Regency Phuket and Andaz Abu Dhabi Capital Gate.
