Background: How to Earn JetBlue’s Mosaic Status by Status Matching

If you’re a frequent flyer looking for a faster way to earn elite status with JetBlue, and you have status from another airline, JetBlue’s Match to Mosaic might be just what you need. Recently, I’ve decided to participate in the program, and I will share with you how my experience has been so far.

What is Match to Mosaic?

JetBlue’s Match to Mosaic allows you to fast-track to JetBlue’s Mosaic status, which offers a range of benefits like free checked bags, priority boarding, and access to Even More (Extra Legroom) Seats. Once approved, you’ll enjoy Mosaic 1 or 2 status for 3 months. And, you’ll have the chance to extend your status by meeting requirements through the end of the next calendar year.

To participate in Match to Mosaic, you need to head over to the landing page and apply through the application. You’ll need to submit:

  • A screenshot of your frequent flyer program profile showing your full name and proof of status. (A screenshot or photo of your most recent boarding pass or flight confirmation email showing your status, if you’re matching Mosaic 2.) You also must have a TrueBlue account to get a status match.

They do say to please allow up to 4 weeks for processing, but thankfully it didn’t take that long for me. I submitted my status match request on a Friday, and the following Thursday (6 days later), I got a response saying that they accepted my submission and to allow up to 4 weeks for processing. I really hoped it wouldn’t take 4 weeks to process as I had a JetBlue flight in a little over 2 weeks. Thankfully, I saw on the app that on Tuesday (11 days from submission), my TrueBlue account was showing Mosaic 1 Status. Woo-hoo! Thursday (13 days from submission), I got a formal email stating that I’ve gotten the status.

Which Frequent Flyer Programs Are Accepted?

I used my American Airlines AAdvantage Gold Status for the match, which got me Mosaic 1. Below is a list of airlines that are included:

  • Alaska Airlines Mileage Plan Status
    • Mosaic 1: MVP, MVP Gold
    • Mosaic 2: MVP Gold 75K, MVP Gold 100K
  • American Airlines AAdvantage Status
    • Mosaic 1: Gold, Platinum
    • Mosaic 2: Executive Platinum, Platinum Pro, ConciergeKey
  • Delta Air Lines Medallion Status
    • Mosaic 1: Silver, Gold
    • Mosaic 2: Platinum, Diamond, Delta 360
  • Frontier Airlines Elite Status
    • Mosaic 1: Elite Gold, Platinum, Diamond
  • Southwest Airlines Rapid Rewards
    • Mosaic 1: A-List, A-List Preferred
  • Spirit Airlines Free Spirit Status
    • Mosaic 1: Gold
  • United Airlines MileagePlus Status
    • Mosaic 1: Premier Silver, Gold
    • Mosaic 2: Premier Platinum, 1K, Global Services

How to extend the matched Mosaic Status?

So, the status match is valid for 3 months from the date of acceptance, but you can extend your Mosaic status through the following calendar year by earning and receiving the following number of tiles within the 3 months of receiving your matched Mosaic status:

  • 10 tiles to keep Mosaic 1
  • 25 tiles to keep Mosaic 2
  • 40 tiles to earn Mosaic 3

To earn titles:

  • You earn 1 tile for every $100 spent on JetBlue flights, JetBlue Vacations packages, Paisly by JetBlue (cars, stays & more)
  • You earn 1 tile for every $1000 spent on JetBlue credit cards

Mosaic Perks

As a Mosaic 1, you’ll get

  • Mosaic Boarding
  • Priority Security
  • Dedicated Check-In
  • Preferred Seating
  • Free Same-Day Switches
  • First 2 Checked Bags Free
  • EvenMore Seats (At no extra charge during check-in (Mosaic 1) or booking (Mosaic 2 & up), if available.)
  • 24/7 Mosaic Phone Line
  • Beer, Wine & Liquor (Up to 3 Drinks Per Flight)
  • Mint Suite Priority
  • 3x Bonus Points

Additionally, as a Mosaic 2, you’ll get a Pet Fee Waiver.

I was able to utilize moving to EvenMore Seats on one of my flights, as well as take advantage of the free same-day switch, which I’ll highlight in an upcoming post.

Note: Customers who status match with TrueBlue now will not be eligible for another status match, if offered, for 24 months.  I’m still not entirely sure if I’ll complete the challenge to retain status for the year, but it was helpful for my most recent JetBlue flights.

The Verdict

JetBlue’s Match to Mosaic could be a nice way to get some perks for your upcoming JetBlue flights if you have status on another airline. It took me 11 days to get matched, which wasn’t too bad, and I was able to get an extra legroom EvenMore seat on one of my flights, as well as take advantage of a free same-day switch.
