How is Marriott Silver Priority Late Checkout

Priority Late Checkout

I just got back from my stay at the Lake Arrowhead Resort and Spa which is part of the Autograph Collection. I’ll have my hotel review up tomorrow 🙂

As a Marriott Silver, which the Amex SPG Credit Card gives, online it says you get Priority Late Checkout:

“Call the front desk the morning of your check out, and let us know your planned departure time.

Late checkout is based on availability and offered at all participating Marriott hotels, except Marriott Vacation Club®.”

At SPG, the equivalent status of Silver is Preferred Guest Plus. With that, you get 4 p.m. late checkout, subject to availability at resort and conference center hotels.

So it’s a bit more clear with SPG than Marriott Rewards.

My Priority Late Checkout Experience:

So, my friends and I were going to go on a hike after lunch. I was hoping to come back and freshen up, so I asked if it was possible to check out at 3 P.M. I got granted 1 P.M. checkout, and the hotel said it was the latest they could do before charging for a 1/2 day rate.

1 P.M. is still better than the 11 A.M. checkout time, so I gladly took it. Considering the hotel was pretty empty (offseason) and a Tuesday weekday, I was hoping to score a later checkout but oh well. The Marriott “Priority Late Checkout” is definitely more vague than SPG, and so I guess it’s harder to score a later checkout at Marriott.
