Over the years, I’ve written extensively about why I love transferable points currencies. They are an excellent hedge against the devaluation of one particular points and miles program. Also, they give you multiple options via alliances when you’re looking to book a flight. Chase Ultimate Rewards continues to be one of my favorite points transfer currencies. What makes it even more valuable is that every now and then, Chase runs really lucrative points transfer bonuses. One such points transfer bonus to Marriott Bonvoy ends tonight on Aug 14, 2024.

70% bonus points: Chase to Marriott Bonvoy

With this current transfer bonus, you will earn an additional 70% Marriott Bonvoy points when you convert your points.

  • The usual transfer ratio is 1:1
  • After the 70% bonus, the ratio becomes 1:1.7
  • The offer ends on August 14, 2024 at 11:59 ET

Should you transfer?

It all depends on what your travel plans look like. In my case, I transferred 60,000 Chase points to Marriott during this transfer bonus because I needed some extra points for an upcoming stay. In most cases, I’d avoid transferring points speculatively without any particular use of those points on the horizon.

Transfer Times

While the terms and conditions say otherwise, my points transfer was instant.

  • I transferred my points from Chase to Marriott and immediately logged out of my Chase account
  • Right away, I logged into my Marriott account to check my balance and the points were already there

An Important Caveat

After Marriott acquired Starwood, Amex and Chase have shared the Marriott Bonvoy credit card portfolio. Therefore, this has resulted into a complex web of requirements. However, we’ve simplified things for you. Refer to the posts below to check and see if you qualify. Again, this depends on your history with the card issuers and which Marriott co-branded you’re currently carrying or have carried in the recent past.
