Last week, I wrote about the fantastic 200,000 points offer on the Amex Bonvoy Brilliant card. However, everyone may not qualify for that offer, given the complex web of restrictions on welcome bonuses on co-branded Marriott cards, ever since Marriott started offering cards with both Amex and Chase. If you qualify for a Chase card instead, then the Marriott Bonvoy Boundless card is also offering an amazing welcome bonus of up to 150,000 points, for a much lower annual fee of $95.

Marriott Bonvoy Boundless Card

With this offer on the Marriott Bonvoy Boundless Card, you’ll earn a welcome bonus of 3 free nights (each up to 50,000 points) after you spend $3,000 in the first 3 months of card membership. This is a great offer for a card that charges an annual fee of just $95.

In addition to the welcome bonus, you’ll also get the following benefits:

  • 17 points for each dollar you spend at properties in the Marriott Bonvoy portfolio
  • 3 points for each dollar you spend on gas stations, grocery stores and dining (capped out at $6,000 spend per year (combined)
  • 2 points for each dollar you spend on travel purchases
  • 2 points per each dollar spent on all other purchases
  • Complimentary Silver Elite Benefits for simply keeping the card active
  • 15 elite night credits per calendar year
  • One elite night for every $5,000 in spend
  • One Free Night Award every year upon account anniversary (valid up to 35,000 points per night)
  • Complimentary premium wi-fi

The Pundit’s Mantra

Overall, this offer is a great fit if you are looking to stay at properties in the Marriott portfolio in the next 12-15 months. Firstly, the minimum spend is pretty low, at just $1,000 per month. Once you earn the 3 free night certificates, they’ll be valid for a year after the date of issuance.

Moreover, the annual fee night upon cardmember anniversary also goes a long way in helping pay for the $95 annual fee, in addition to all the other benefits and points earning that you are already getting on everyday spend.

Overall, there are some fantastic points earning opportunities out there if you’re looking to book some hotel stays. Both Marriott and Hilton are offering some amazing bonuses across the board. Depending on your travel goals, you can opt for offers that give you more points as opposed to free night certificates. Given my frequency of travel, I usually end up signing up for offers with free night certificates, as I always get more value from them.
