For this week’s Makeover Monday, we’re “following” loyal reader and road warrior Lin Humphrey to San Antonio. He recently stayed at the newly renovated Sheraton Gunter hotel in San Antonio, and kindly brought it to my attention via Twitter! (Thanks Lin!)

The hotel’s within walking distance to San Antonio’s scenic River Walk, the Alamo, and the Majestic Theatre; the new Tobin Center for the Performing Arts and Convention Center are a few blocks away.

The hotel – housed in a century-old building – finished its top-to-bottom renovation about six months ago, giving San Antonio visitors yet another interesting lodging option. Its restaurant Market on Houston have also been revamped based on San Antonio’s foodie vibe and local ingredients. The hotel’s Bar 414 serves 1920s era cocktails in a speakeasy atmosphere with live music. The bar honors legendary Delta bluesman Robert Johnson, who recorded 27 songs in the hotel’s Room 414.
