Lounge Review: The Newer JFK Delta Sky Club Concourse A

Background and Location

Delta operates out of Terminal 4 in New York (JFK). In July 2023, Delta opened a new 14,000 square-foot Sky Club at New York JFK, in the A Concourse. It’s a little less than half the size of the main existing Sky Club at the B Concourse and can accommodate about 250 passengers. I’ve always wanted to visit but haven’t had the opportunity.

Before my Delta flight to Rochester, I really wanted to try the Chase Sapphire Lounge at JFK as I still have yet to visit a Chase Sapphire Lounge. But, the wait time was 50 minutes, so it was the perfect opportunity to head over to the Delta Sky Club JFK Concourse A since I didn’t want to wait. And, my flight was leaving from the A Concourse anyway, so it was quite close to this lounge.

The lounge is located near Gate A8, and you take escalators up to the lounge. As of my October 2024 visit, the hours are daily from 5:00 am to 10:30 pm.

You can check this full list regarding Sky Club access rules if you’d like but some highlights in gaining access include:

  • AMEX Platinum or Centurion- if flying on Delta & not in Basic Economy
  • Flying on Delta One
  • Sky Club Members- not in Basic Economy

You will be able to access Delta Sky Clubs anytime within 3 hours of their scheduled departure time (or connecting customers can access the connecting airport at any time before departure).

There is some seating immediately after you get off the escalators, and then you can make a right turn to get into the main lounge area.

To the left is seating with armchairs, and to the right is the bar. You’ll also notice sliding doors that lead you to the Sky Deck. The Sky Deck offers sofas, long tables to work, and also outdoor chairs for those who want to just take in the views. There are also charging ports at most of the seats which is helpful for you to charge your devices.

Back in the lounge, I found the bar to be quite fancy, and the white marble felt luxurious.

Where I Sat

In front of the bar, there are high tops which is where I sat during my visit. This is perfect for solo travelers looking to work on a laptop or for groups of two. Easy-to-access plugs were located in between each seat and offered USB A & C as well as power outlets.

Past the bar is the buffet, and there is also a fountain soda machine and coffee/tea.

To the right of the buffet is an extra seating area with extra customer service desks. There’s also a slushie station that looked pretty cool but it was out of service. This area also has large windows and airport views.

Headed out back past the buffet towards the back, there is a long hallway that passes two distinct sections. One includes 4 private phone pods, then there is a business lounge that offers half-booth-style seats along with small tables.

Lastly, the bathrooms are at the end of the hallway. The bathrooms are well appointed and offer the Delta standard Grown Alchemist soap and lotion.

Food Options

During my evening visit, dinner was offered and the options were quite tasty and elevated compared to other equivalent clubs like United Club or American Admirals Clubs.

Hot dishes included Cider Braised Pork with Apples, Cinnamon Sweet Potatoes, Broccoli with Crispy Garlic, and Rotini Pasta with Parmesan Cream. There were a few salad options and 2 cold sandwiches. A few cheeses and cold cuts were available as well as two soups: and Italian Wedding Soup & Butternut Squash.

I really enjoyed the braised pork, the pasta, and the Italian Wedding Soup.

For alcohol, there were a good number of complimentary alcoholic options, as well as premium selections for purchase.

The Verdict

I have to give credit where it’s due, and Delta did a great job with the Sky Club at JFK Concourse A. While smaller than the Concourse B location, I loved the new modern decor and more boutique vibes. I will definitely consider visiting this lounge again on my future travels out of Delta’s JFK Terminal 4.
