Last week, I wrote about some of the speculations and predictions ahead of Amex’s big refresh of the personal and business versions of the Platinum card. As per Doctor of Credit, these leaked details and screenshots show us which benefits may be offered on the Business Platinum Card after the announcement of the card refresh in three days.

Business Platinum Card Refresh
As per the leaked details, the annual will increase from $695 to $895. This is in line with what rumors we’ve read over the last few weeks. Also, customers can also choose a brand new ‘mirror finish’ design as well.
Welcome Bonus
You’ll earn a welcome bonus of 200,000 Membership Rewards points after you spend $20,000 in the first 3 months of card membership. If you’re eligible and looking to get the card anyway, then you can get a 200,000 points bonus right now and pay the lower annual fee of $695 and still enjoy the new benefits for a year once the refresh happens in three days. Read this post for all the details about that 200,000 points offer.
Earning Points
- 5x points for each dollar you spend on flights at AmexTravel.com and for hotel bookings with the Fine Hotels and Resorts Collection and The Hotel Collection
- 2x points for each dollar you spend in select categories (up to $2 million per year) and on every single purchase over $5,000
- 1x points on all other purchases
Statement Credits
The refreshed card will continue to offer many of the same benefits, in addition to new benefits added. You can think about these new credits more like Amex Offers for spend with certain retailers.
- $150 in credits when you spend with Dell.com in the US, in addition to another $1,000 in credits when you spend $5,000 or more in a calendar year
- $250 in credits when you spend $600 or more on Adobe purchases
- $600 in statement credits when you book hotels via Fine Hotels and Resorts Collection or The Hotel Collection. You’ll earn these credits bi-annually ($300 every 6 months of the calendar year)
The card will continue to offer the following credits:
- $200 in Airline Fee Credits
- $209 Clear Credit
- $200 Hilton Credit
- Fee Credit for Global Entry/TSA Pre-check
- $360 in Indeed credit ($90/quarter)
- $120 in Wireless Credits ($10/month)
Elite Status
In addition to other offers for complimentary elite status, you’ll also enjoy Leaders Club Sterling Status with Leading Hotels of the World. If you look at their webpage, then in my opinion, this benefit doesn’t look all the great on the surface, with benefits like:
- Upgrade priority on arrival (no confirmed upgrade), maximum of 5 pre-arrival upgrades annually
- Daily continental breakfast for two
- Early check in and late check out ‘considerations’
- Free Wifi
- Sixt Platinum Status Match
- 5% stay bonus
Benefits for Big Spenders
Similar to the recent changes to the Chase Sapphire Reserve, Amex is offering new benefits for big spenders, when you spend more than $250,000 in a calendar year.
- $2,400 American Express One AP Credit
- $1,200 Amex Travel Online flight statement credit
The Pundit’s Mantra
Overall, I don’t really find this refresh very exciting. I no longer hold the card and this refresh hasn’t convinced me enough to re-open or upgrade.
Again, bear in mind that this is still leaked information and American Express is yet to confirm this. However, based on previous leaks and rumors, there’s a very good chance that the information is indeed credible.

Great breakdown! Thanks for sharing this. The higher annual fee feels steep, but the new credits and status perks could make sense for frequent travelers. Curious to see if Amex confirms these leaks soon.
