Last day for limited time Amex points transfer bonus

amex welcome bonuses

Amex Membership Rewards points continue to be one of my favorite points currencies. Compared to Ultimate Rewards points, Amex points offer you much more flexibility with their airline partners, which are a lot more compared to Chase’s. While Chase’s hotel partners may be more lucrative, I frequently transfer my Amex points to Hilton when Amex runs a transfer bonus.

For most transfer partners, you get a simple 1:1 ratio for each Amex point you transfer. However, not all points currencies are created equal. With Hilton, you usually earn 2 Hilton points for each Amex point you transfer. With this limited time bonus, Amex is giving you 50% extra. For each Amex point you transfer, you’ll earn 3 instead of 2 Hilton points.

With this bonus, you can in effect book a standard room at most top tier Hiltons using just 32,000 Membership Rewards points. In this post, I’ve highlighted all the different ways in which you can maximize this offer. I book most of my hotel stays with Hilton and I’ve made great use of these transfer offers in the past.

HOW TO EARN AMEX POINTS

American Express has an impressive portfolio of credit cards. I primarily rely on cards that help me earn Membership Rewards points so that I can transfer them Amex’s travel partners when I need to. Here are a few options. Annual fees range from $0 all the way to $595. One of my favorites is the Amex Gold Card, which I’ve carried for almost a decade now.

Amex Everyday Card (No Annual Fee)

Blue Business Plus Credit Card (No Annual Fee)

Business Green Rewards Card (No Annual Fee for the First Year)

Amex Everyday Preferred Credit Card ($95 Annual Fee)

American Express Green Card ($150 Annual Fee)

American Express Gold Card ($250 Annual Fee)

Business Gold Card ($250 Annual Fee)

Amex Platinum Card ($550 Annual Fee)

Business Platinum Card ($595 Annual Fee)

THE PUNDIT’S MANTRA

As many of us stay indoors as the storm passes, we’re looking forward to that dream trip once things get back to normal. If you have a trip on your mind, you can leverage this transfer bonus in order to stay at a top tier Hilton property.

This limited time transfer bonus ends tonight on April 14, 2020.
