When your taxi driver tells you, “It is one of the best hotels in Ibiza!” you know you are probably on to a winner. I chose to stay at the THB Los Molinos in Ibiza as it has good reviews and as it is shoulder season quite reasonably priced.
The hotel is about ten to fifteen minutes drive from the airport and the fare is around €15. On arrival in the wee hours of the morning, I checked in.
Check-In Experience
You need to pay the city tourist tax separately and this is €1.15 per night. Reception is on level 3 in the hotel with some rooms on lower levels as the road is on a ridge. I headed to the elevator and went down to my room on level 1.
Sea view rooms are a must when staying here. When I arrived at my room, I went straight to the balcony. Unfortunately a large tree blocked any view so I called Reception and asked to change rooms.
Another staff member showed me another room and I found this room to be perfect. I settled in with a bottle of Cava from the mini-bar before turning in for the night.
That Room With A Sea View
Happily the sea view rooms are all exactly the same. The view differs as the rooms are located at different points along the hotel. Room 306 has an excellent view over the pool and on towards the Mediterranean Sea. Beds are two singles pushed together which I find is common throughout Europe.
Breakfast In Ibiza
Reviews on TripAdvisor always mention the breakfast. This runs until 10:30am and features barista coffee service so I treated myself to three lattes as they were delicious. Also, there is an omelette station with omelettes cooked to order.
There is a large array of food, yoghurt, continental items as well as sausages, eggs and other hot items available. For early depatures, an express breakfast is available in the lobby. This is continental style and caters for air crew who use the hotel for their stays.
Pool and Spa
The pool area is quite extensive with lovely manicured grounds. There is a whirlpool and plenty of nice deck furniture to relax upon. I read a book down here for an hour which I found very relaxing.
Various spa treatments are available and you order at the reception desk. I purchased a 70 minute Swedish massage for €80. The spa treatment room is near the pool. Over an hour on the table at the hands of an experienced masseuse is utter bliss!
Room Service
While the room service menu is not extensive, there is plenty for everyone. I chose a chicken curry with ice cream for dessert. You can see that the food is well presented.
Overall Thoughts
My short stay in Ibiza has me hooked and I will travel here again and stay in this hotel again. The employees are quite friendly and the hotel is located on a quiet street about 10 minutes walk from Ibiza’s old town.
It is a great place to stay whether you want a quiet relaxing time or as a base to explore and sample Ibiza’s famed night life. The food options are excellent and the gorgeous grounds and pool really make it a haven of peace and tranquility.
