I Shouldn’t Be This Sad on New Year’s Day

But who wouldn’t be sad looking at this:

The bad thing about January 1 is all of us who value elite status with our favorite airlines suddenly become nothing, zero, 0, nada. Time to get out there, make the doughnuts…and put my Delta SkyMiles Platinum Amex in the forward most slot in my wallet. This is important because beginning today, you will need to meet the Medallion Qualifying Dollar (MQD) requirements for elite status with Delta as well as the MQM or MQS requirements. If you spend $25,000 on your Delta Amex card, this requirement is waived. Thankfully, I have a business trip booked for next week that will get this counter moving in the right direction. I’m guessing I’m not the only one that signed into their airline’s website this morning just to see 0. Happy New Year everyone!

  1. Oh
I know exactly what you mean.
    I have a little MR jan 25,
    A trip From JFK to
Cdg, AMS, BRU back to JFK
And a mr to ANC in may lined up- it’s a start namaste!!

  2. You should have pulled out your Delta SkyMiles Platinum Amex yesterday and bought as many AMEX GCs as you could to earn an extra 3% TCB or 3x Delta or Alaska miles (thru the respective portals). Charge would have posted in 2014.

    1. Can’t argue with that, but I’d worry my purchases would reflect 12/31. My secret resolution is to be more creative (motivated might be a better word) in 2014 with certain purchasing activities. All in all, 2013 was good to me…and hoping 2014 will be even better. Happy New Year to you.
