to the mainland. 🙂
The flight back was fine. I was traveling minus Lady Astrojets who remained on the island until the end of her work conference. She is on her way back now, in fact.
Both of us managed to score upgrades to first class for our returns using frequent flier miles, which made for a much more comfortable trip. Check-in with United in Lihue was a snap. In flight service was about as you’d expect for a redeye. My connection was in LAX with a whopping 3 hour layover, which I spent most of in United’s Red Carpet Club. The flight from LAX to Dulles was aboard a Boeing 777, one of my favorite airplanes.
I’ll post more details later, with individual observations on flights, hotels and car rentals for the trip. I’ve got a bit of travel coming up to some exciting locales such as Fayetteville, NC; Knoxville, TN; and Shreveport, LA. But best of all, we are going on a short cruise to the Bahamas for President’s Day weekend to celebrate my birthday!
