Background and Location

I did a quick weekend stay at the Hadsten Solvang, Tapestry Collection by Hilton, as it served as a great home base for a wedding I was attending in nearby Los Alamos. The Tapestry Collection by Hilton is a brand of upscale, independent hotels known for their local character and unique style.

Solvang, California, is a charming Danish-inspired town located 35 miles from Santa Barbara and approximately 130 miles from Los Angeles. You can explore the Danish-themed village on foot, as the hotel is conveniently located at the edge of the city, while still in close walking distance. Nearby activities also include wineries, and you can explore other towns in the Santa Ynez Valley.

Takeoff Points for the Hadsten Solvang

Date of Stay: September 2025
Pros: Newly updated rooms, convenient location.
Cons: The Bathroom water is too soft.
Takeoff Point: The Hadsten Solvang is a solid option in Solvang to explore the cute Danish town with comfortable rooms in a great location.

Arrival and Lobby

The Hadsten Solvang offers 74 rooms & suites and was originally built in 1972. It was formerly the Hadsten House, and in 2022, it underwent an extensive transformation under the ownership of the Santa Ynez Band of Chumash Indians and joined the Tapestry Collection by Hilton. It is more motel-style with the outdoor corridors to your room, but I think they have renovated it nicely. Self-parking is complimentary.

I arrived at the standard check-in time (4 pm), but I had done mobile check-in on the app beforehand, and actually received a message that my room was early a few hours before. I went to the front desk to pick up physical keys, and a friendly associate also went over my $30 daily credit for being a Hilton Honors Dining Member. It could be used at the restaurant or at Sidecar (the sundries store next to the reception).

There is also a nice outdoor courtyard just past the Boiler Room Restaurant with seating and yard games.

The Room

Our room featured 2 queen beds and was located on the second (top) floor. Upon entering the room, it felt newly refreshed and was nicer than I was expecting from the outside.

The beds were comfortable for a 3.5-star hotel, and the room was a solid size at 315 square feet. There was a TV, a desk with a chair, a Keurig machine, and a small closet. Two robes were provided, as well as a steamer.

The bathroom was at the back of the room and interestingly housed the window AC unit. It was great for sleep since the noise was isolated, but it made the bathroom cold, so we usually turned it off while getting ready.

The only quirk I had with the bathroom was that the water was so soft that you could never wash off the soap/oil from you.

Amenities and Dining

The Boiler Room Restaurant serves breakfast daily from 7 am to 11 am, and dinner from 5 pm to 9 pm. During my stay, the bar was open Monday to Thursday from 3 pm to 10 pm, and Friday-Sunday from 1 pm to 11 pm (10 pm on Sunday). You could also have in-room dining delivered from the restaurant.

I did use the Diamond credit to pick up breakfast, and it was not bad (though a bit oily).

The hotel also provides complimentary coffee from 5 am to 7 am in the lobby.

Lastly, there is also a fitness center on the 1st floor, which I did not have a chance to check out.

The Verdict

Overall, I had a solid stay at the Hadsten Solvang, and would definitely consider staying here again if my travels bring me to the Solvang area again. The rooms are newly updated & comfortable, the service was friendly, and the location is extremely convenient.
