China is once again open for business and Hainan Airlines are starting flights from Dublin to Beijing next week. These will be the only non-stop flights from Ireland to China which should make them popular.
It has been three years since a non-stop service has operated between the two countries. Perhaps that is not too surprising considering what happened in between.
Dublin to Beijing
Services from Dublin to Beijing will start on 27 June 2023 and will operate twice weekly on Tuesday and Saturday. Flights depart the Republic of Ireland at 12:20pm, landing into China at 5:30am the following morning.
In the other direction, you leave Beijing at 2:50am, landing in Dublin at 7am the same day. These services will be operated by the Airbus A330-300 and take 10 and 11 hours respectively.
Hainan Airlines are not a member of any of the global alliances, though they are partners with Etihad, Virgin Australia, TAP Air Portugal and Alaska Airlines, according to their frequent flyer partner page. Well, those plus a number of other Chinese and Asian carriers.
Overall Thoughts
There are business links between Ireland and China, so this new flight from Dublin to Beijing will be handy. It only runs through to early October 2023, so it won’t be around for too long.
Perhaps it will come back again next summer, depending on demand. For now though it will provide the most convenient service between the two countries.
