I spent a few great days at En Route, a really nice bed and breakfast I have now stayed at a few times. It is in George on the Garden Route in the Western Cape in South Africa.
South Africans are great hosts so you cannot go wrong with most places to stay. I stayed at En Route during the virus and have been back every year since.

This is the front of the B&B. You get provided with a gate clicker to open the gate so you can drive in.
Accommodation is so cheap if you are paying with a foreign currency. Rooms are available next week for between $78 and $88 a night.

My normal accommodation is the door on the right. It has a kitchen, separate bathroom and a small veranda out back. Laundry is also available for a small fee.

The room:
Very nice room with a lot of space. I believe the couch can fold out to be a bed, I haven’t needed to try it yet.

This is the kitchen that is fully stocked with microwave, oven, fridge, kettle, cutlery and more.

Standard hairdryer, safe and bible are provided.

The bathroom:
The shower has a nice rain shower head. The basin counter is a bit small but I was able to fit all my stuff on it. A request to use water sparingly was up on the wall.

The breakfast:
My absolute favorite part of my stay at En Route is the breakfast. The one lady that handles the kitchen has been there for many years so the breakfast is consistent every year. There are various cereals, toast with different jams, fruit juice, tea or coffee, really good bacon with fried tomato and egg. It is a simple but magnificent meal.

Coffee and tea are available too.

This is the dining room. There is place for all guests. There are about 9 rooms at En Route so there are 9 tables with up to 4 places at each table.

Recreational areas:
Some of the rooms open up to the back garden. They have tables and chairs under cover you can sit at or bring them out into the sun.

This is a casual lounge which also has a kettle with coffee and tea supples.

Extra mural activities:
George is on the coast and there are 3 beaches within a 15 minute drive. Victoria Bay is known on the surfing circuit and Herolds Bay is more family oriented.
Ernie Els the international golfer owns a golf course nearby as well as properties.
On the drive from Cape Town to George I passed K3, the world’s Longest zipline. It is 3,2 kms long, that is 2 miles long !
This is the landing spot and in the second photo you can see up to the start on top of the mountain to the left.

And 2 hours in the other direction is the Bloukrans Bunjy jumping bridge. It is the Highest commercially available bridge jump in the world.
It is 216 meters, that is 236 yards high. I have done the bunjy jump and it is insane. It has about a 7 second fall before the bunjy starts stretching and then bounces you back up again. Count how long 7 seconds is and imagine falling for that long. Astonishing.
I think it is quite amazing that you can do the worlds longest zipline and the worlds highest bridge jump in one morning.
Conclusion:
I like En Route because of the amenities and the breakfast but also because of the activities that are available within a mornings drive.
If you are ever on the Garden Route lookout for all these places.
