I just returned from the Frequent Traveler University event in Dallas/Fort Worth. It’s been a bit since I attended a FTU, and it was good to be there again. One of the things that struck me was the number of new faces in attendance. There is immense interest in the hobby, and it was good to see some new people, but of course, always fun seeing some old friends again too. I think my favorite moment of the weekend was seeing how excited the lady sitting next to me was when she won two lounge passes. 🙂
The event organizers, as usual, deserve a salute for making things run without a hitch. Of course, I’m sure there were plenty of “hitches” behind the scenes, but I never noticed, a testament to the staff. The DFW Hyatt Regency was inundated, not just with us, but with people heading to several other events including the Academy of Country Music Awards. In short, the hotel was busy, but they handled things well.
As usual, some of the best moments were after the meetings, in the bar or restaurant after hours. Then there was that what I hear was an epic lounge crawl. 😀 In short, there are a lot of good people in the hobby who share information willingly, and it’s always good to connect with them formally and informally and share a few drinks too. In the end, it was a good weekend. Thanks to the organizers, speakers, and attendees for making it worthwhile!
