Introduction

Qatar Airways business class is one of the best in terms of quality and luxury. Most of their planes are new and with beautiful interiors, excellent entertainment units, and comfortable seats. Recently, I flew their business class product on their Boeing 787 plane en route from Kolkata to Doha. Qatar Airways is based out of Doha where all their flights connect to over 150 destinations.

Booking

This flight was the first segment en route to Frankfurt with a layover in Doha.  Qatar Airways business class flights between India and Europe can be booked with 44,500 American Airlines miles at aa.com.  Not a bad mileage redemption rate for a combined total of 12 hours of flight time.  For more details on how to book use American Airlines mile on Qatar Airways, see my Qatar Airways A350 review.

Plane Atmosphere (5/5)

Advanced air pressure and humidity control in the modern Boeing 787 certainly helped avoid dry eyes and headaches.  The fancy lighting package was installed on this plane with simulated sunrise, sunset, and night time in the cabin with gradual color changes.

While the cabin was more open than the typical configuration, I prefer the A350 ceilings with no luggage compartments in the middle of the ceiling, which feels less claustrophobic.

What’s great about newer planes is the massive storage bins for carry on luggage.  On older planes, I frequently have to struggle to stuff my luggage in the small bins. Not a problem here on the 787.

Seat Comfort (5/5)

From an aesthetic standpoint, the Qatar Airways business class seats have one of the best looking designs.  Control buttons were well located and there is a useful small storage area for miscellaneous items.

The entertainment system was the best I have seen in business class with a large high definition screen, LCD remote control, and a ton of content to view.

The seat reclined fully flat and was soft enough to fall asleep easily.  Only negative was the seat was a bit narrow.

Food (5/5)

Food aboard Qatar Airways business class is tough to beat with a great selections of delicious food options.   Its as close to fine dining as you can get while flying.  Be sure to try the Arabic coffee with dates.

Service (5/5)

As usual, the service was top notch with a well trained staff that were attentive, friendly, and efficient.  I’ve flown with Qatar several times and I’m impressed by how the service is consistently good.

Conclusion

In conclusion, Qatar Airways business class aboard the Boeing 787 is one of the best options available for long haul flights.   With newer planes, well designed seats, excellent service, and delicious food, you’d be hard pressed to find a better business class experience.  Aside from the seats being a bit narrow, its about as perfect as you can get.
