You can now take Finnair from Stockholm to Phuket, Bangkok and Miami

Gameshows always encourage risk taking, with names such as Who Dares Wins and concepts to get you to take a chance. At the moment, airlines have everything to play for, and Finnair have announced long haul routes out of Stockholm.

In case your geography skills aren’t up to scratch, Stockholm is in Sweden, an entirely different country to where the airline is based. It looks like Finnair are taking a leaf out of the Aer Lingus playbook – the Irish airline is operating internationally from Manchester later this year.

New Finnair Routes From Stockholm

The oneworld alliance carrier is going to use their modern Airbus A350 aircraft on services from Arlanda Airport in Stockholm. Thailand and Florida are some of Sweden’s most popular winter holiday destinations, to avoid the cold Nordic winter.

First cab off the rank (plane off the gate?) is Stockholm to Bangkok from 22 October, operating five times a week on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Sunday. Services will become daily from 28 November and run through to 22 April 2022.

Launching the day after Bangkok on 23 October will be flights to Miami, home of The Golden Girls. Flights will be twice weekly on Wednesday and Saturday, increasing to four times a week from 29 November, with additional services on Monday and Friday.

Last but not least are flights to Phuket in Thailand from 24 October, where I stayed at Burasari Phuket on my last visit. Finnair will fly on Sunday, adding an extra flight on Thursdays from 4 November, followed by a third weekly service on Tuesday as of 30 November.

Overall Thoughts

These three destinations are already served from Finnair’s Helsinki base, so this will mean Swedish people will be able to take advantage of these without having to make a stopover. I know I prefer a non-stop flight over connections.

Will you be taking advantage of these new Finnair flights? Does anyone from Sweden actually read travel blogs in English? Thank you for reading and if you have any comments or questions, please leave them below.
