Hilton Honors often gets a bad rap for charging some really high prices for points redemptions. However, if you plan your stays smartly, then there’s still a lot of great value to be extracted from Hilton Honors points redemptions. There’s one such redemption that I’m now eyeing. I’m thinking of my third trip to Africa and this time around there’s a juicy redemption on the radar.

Hilton Honors Redemption: Great Value at This Property

Hilton has a couple of properties in Mauritius, one of them being an SLH property. I’m looking at booking the Hilton Mauritius Resort and Spa for a trip later on this year in October.

Thanks to the Amex Platinum Card, I already have complimentary Hilton Honors Gold status. This means that I’ll enjoy complimentary breakfast at the property, since Hilton Honors still offers free breakfast to Hilton Honors Gold members and above at non-US properties. I was looking to book a five night stay and was pleasantly surprised to find the value that I’d be getting, purely from a CPP (cents per point) perspective.

Hilton Mauritius

The Hilton Mauritius Resort & Spa is located on the western side of Mauritius and it takes about an hour to drive from the airport to the hotel.

For a five night stay in the last week of October, I was pleasantly surprised to see the pricing and the amazingly good CPP value on offer here.

The base level room at the property is a King Deluxe Room

For a stay lasting five nights, the total was coming to $3,854.

The price for a base level Deluxe Room at the property using Hilton Honors points is 70,000 points per night. For a five night stay, once you take the ‘fifth night free’ benefit into account, you’d end up paying a total of 280,000 Hilton Honors points. If you calculate the CPP value here, it comes to an amazing 1.38 cents per point.

The Pundit’s Mantra

As I plan my travels for the rest of the year, I already have trips booked for May. I’ve been making plans to finally make it to Mauritius and this amazing value while redeeming Hilton Honors points is tempting me to pull the trigger.

If youv’e redeemed hotel points to stay in Mauritius, which currency did you use and what was your redemption like? Tell us in the comments section.
