Just yesterday, I wrote about how Delta Air Lines has cancelled flights between New York (JFK) and Tel Aviv. Due to ongoing tensions in the Middle East, several carriers are issuing notifications, requesting passengers to cancel, post pone or rebook flights. As uncertainty continues, Emirates, one of the major carriers in the Middle East, has also put out a notification on their website about upcoming travel. As per Air Cargo Week, the US-Iran conflict has already led to over 9,500 flights getting canceled in the region.

According to aviation data shared by industry observers, more than 9,500 flights were cancelled between February 28 and March 3 across major regional hubs including Dubai, Doha, Abu Dhabi, Sharjah, Kuwait and Bahrain. With an estimated average of 160 passengers per aircraft, the disruption may have affected more than 1.5 million travellers. Operations at Dubai International and Dubai World Central have since begun a limited resumption, with airlines including Emirates gradually restoring services while schedules remain fluid.

Emirates Issues Advisory

Due to the current geopolitical tensions and airspace closures in the Middle East, Emirates is currently operating a very lmited schedule of flights. On the Emirates website, you can click here and check if your upcoming flight is still operational, delayed or canceled.

The advisory clearly mentions that at the moment, customers should only monitor notifications and head to the airport once they receive such notifications. Emirates is still revising its schedule based on the rapidly evolving situation and will notify customers about upcoming flights until March 6. If you have a flight after that date, then you can check the flight status page by inputting your flight details for any new updates.

We are accommodating customers with earlier bookings as a priority on these limited flights. Customers transiting in Dubai will only be accepted for travel if their connecting flight is operating.

Please do not go to the airport unless you have been notified directly by Emirates or hold a confirmed booking for these flights.

Emirates continues to monitor the situation, and we will develop our operational schedule accordingly.

The latest flight updates will be published on our website.

Customers are advised to check flight status, review the latest operational updates on emirates.com, and check their email for any notifications about changes or cancellations to their flights before travelling to the airport.

We would like to thank our customers for their understanding and patience.

The safety and security of our passengers and crew remain our highest priority.

The Pundit’s Mantra

Dubai Airport (DXB) is not only a major airport in the Middle East, but also serves as a major connecting point between the Indian Subcontinent and Europe, Africa and North America. Given the current uncertainty, customers are requested to constantly monitor notifications from the airline. As the situation remains highly dynamic, it would be best to only plan your travel once notified by Emirates.
