Delta is offering a 50 percent bonus on purchased SkyMiles through July 31, 2012. I don’t need to debate the relative value of SkyMiles versus other currencies here. We all know the deal. And we also know my advice on buying miles. Don’t do it unless you are topping off your account to take advantage of a specific award. But if you’re going to buy miles you might as well get some bonus miles too. Click here for details at Delta.com.

Targeted or not (I got the email) you would truly have to be smoking crack to take them up on this offer. Works out around 2.35cpm, and given I can buy up to 500k of Amex Membership rewards at 2.5cpm with frequent transfer bonuses to DL, this makes no sense… unless you have a great redemption lined up right now… and even then … with so many cheap ways to get Delta miles… like I say, smoking (something!)
I saw this email earlier today, forwarded by a reader. I went to the link and didn’t see the offer there. Then clicked limited time offers, and saw a message that the last one expired March 31. And noted in the email that is said non-transferable. So I wondered if this was targeted..?
