A few weeks back, I wrote about some rumors swirling around on Reddit about possible changes to the Chase Sapphire Reserve card. It seems like those changes may be imminent, looking at the way Chase is advertising the product.
Chase Sapphire Reserve refresh: Summer 2025
If you refer to the original post, the rumored changes show a new higher annual fee of $795, with a slew of credits AKA coupon book like features akin to the Amex Platinum Card. Chase is now advertising the upcoming changes on their Instagram account and also on digital billboards.
If you look at both the ads, then you’ll see that they clearly mention “summer 2025”.
I won’t be surprised if the newer design also comes along with a more heavy metallic finish for the card. However, if you haven’t followed previously, then as per Reddit, the following new features could be a part of the refreshed card.
New Features
Annual Fee
• $795 ( $195 fee for authorized users)

New Business Credit Card
We may be also seeing a new business credit card joining the Sapphire lineup. However, more than the ad itself, we have no more details as of now about possible features.
The Pundit’s Mantra
Overall, these changes look like a net negative to me. Back on April fools day, I wrote this satirical piece. Unfortunately, it seems like it’s turning into reality.
If these changes indeed turn out to be true, then we could see another replica of the Amex Platinum Card. We could we see another bonus of 100,000 Ultimate Rewards points after the refersh. However, I’m not sure how many people will be convinced to hold a card charging that kind an annual fee in the long run.
In my case, I’ve carried the Chase Sapphire Preferred card in my wallet for over half a decade and I still continue to love the card for its return on everyday spend and the ability to transfer points to Chase’s partners at a 1:1 ratio. More importantly, in an era during which annual fees have only gone up, the card still carries a fee of jut $95, at least for now.
What do you make of the upcoming changes to the Chase Sapphire Reserve card? if these are indeed the changes that happen, would you keep the card for another year? Tell us in the comments section.

I would really consider downgrade to the Preferred card or partner airline. The $750 annual fee is too steep for me. I have this card for quite sometime and hates to let it go.
I seriously would consider dropping Reserve, going to Preferred and pay lounge fee. Global entry is once every 5 years and i dont like and have never used the Chase travel agency.
I carry the CSR because of its very good primary car rental and travel insurance coverages. Since I’m in Boston, access to the Logan CSR lounge is also important to me. I’ll keep the card if they don’t degrade the insurance coverages. That said, it hurts to have the 3% travel spend UR points go away, but I realize nothing good lasts too long.
Great that the card works for you so well!
How am I supposed to understand this?
$300 Travel Credit • TSA/Global Entry (up to $120 every 4 years) • $500 Edit Credit ($250 2X/Year)
What does the $500 Edit Credit mean? Is the $300 annual travel credit going to $500 which is paid out at 2 x $250?????
The Chase Travel credit is separate from the Edit credit. The Edit is similar to Amex’s Fine Hotels & Resorts collection. https://www.chase.com/travel/the-edit
First Amex, now Chase is insisting they split benefits into monthly or bi-annual chunks which make it harder to use if you only take one big vacation a year.
Yup, that’s precisely the strategy, they get to keep the money on unused credits.
