China Airlines Ontario Airport

China Airlines has officially announced service from Ontario International Airport in Ontario, California to Taipei Taoyuan International Airport. Flights will operate 4 times weekly starting Spring 2018! Ontario Airport is located 40 miles from Downtown Los Angeles.

China Airlines will be the first carrier to offer non-stop, trans-oceanic passenger service to Ontario. It is projected to carry more than 80,000 passengers annually in each direction. The Boeing 777-300ER aircraft with 358 seats will be used for the route.

You can read more on Ontario Airport’s site.

I think this is a great way for Ontario Airport to expand. The city of Ontario recently regained control of the airport from LA World Airports after a long battle. As an Orange County native, I definitely support this route as Ontario is pretty easy to get to.

I have 2 questions. How much is the subsidy for this route and will there be a Business Class lounge.

The Resort Traveler

Those are good questions. I do not have the answers to them at the moment.

Thanks for reading!

I’ve read that they will get free gates and airport access for at least a year. According to several sources there is no airport lounge at ONT but there is a USO which doesn’t help most folks.

Yup you are right! Thanks for reading!
