One person got lucky with a massive retention offer on the Chase Sapphire Sapphire reserve, while Chase is also sending out targeted offers to upgrade to the card via email. That and more as we round up some of the stories from the week gone by.

Two airline loyalty programs that I’m planning to ditch for good…

Over the last few months, we’ve seen a slew of changes being made to loyalty programs. Be it restrictions on partner award space, declining transfer ratios or straight up price increases, there’s been a lot happening. However, here are two loyalty programs that I plan to walk away from for good.

Data Point: Huge retention offer on the Chase Sapphire Reserve

A customer reached out to Chase for a retention offer on the Chase Sapphire Reserve card once the annual fee was billed and was pleasantly surprised to be offered a really lucrative bonus to keep the card for another year. There’s no guarantee that you’ll also receive an offer like this but there’s no harm asking, especially if you’ve carried the card in your wallet for many years and have spent a decent amount of money on the card.

Another points transfer ratio has devalued by 20%, what’s next?

What’s the deal with this Amex Platinum Card benefit?

American Express introduced this benefit after its most recent refresh in September 2025. However, things aren’t going as smoothly for some customers while using the benefit.

Check your email! Chase sending out targeted Chase Sapphire Reserve upgrade offers

After Chase’s most recent refresh, Chase increased the annual fee on the Chase Sapphire Reserve to $795. Also, Chase has imposed more restrictions on whether you can get the card and its welcome bonus if you’ve had the card in the past. However, if you currently have the Chase Sapphire Preferred, then you can upgrade to the Chase Sapphire Reserve card instead.

As per a few data points, Chase is targeting certain Chase Sapphire Preferred cardholders with offers to upgrade to the Chase Sapphire Reserve.
