Over the last couple of weeks, the miles and points space has been abuzz centering around the much awaited refresh of the Chase Sapphire Reserve card. However, as per Frequent Miler and some Reddit reports, it seems like Chase is apparently ‘approving’ certain people even after denying their online application. So what’s going on here?
Chase Sapphire Reserve Application Glitch
After Chase refreshed the Chase Sapphire Reserve, they made a tweak to the application process. Similar to Amex’s dreaded ‘popup jail’, they introduced a popup. This popup would alert you if you were not eligible for the welcome offer. You then had to option to cancel the application or continue the application without the welcome bonus.
It seems like certain applicants decided to cancel the application but Chase still went ahead and opened Chase Sapphire Reserve cards in their name.
The Pundit’s Mantra
As per Frequent Miler, it seems like Chase is now working on the issue and will get in touch with customers who have been affected. Also, they’ve agreed to honor the welcome bonus for customers who decided to cancel the application but still had accounts opened in their name, which is a great thing if you’ve had the card before.
In my case, I continue to use my Chase Sapphire Preferred and have sat out of the whole hullabaloo around the relaunch of the card. In this post, I’ve outlined 7 reasons why I’ve not decided to go for the refreshed Chase Sapphire Reserve card.
Did you apply for the refreshed Chase Sapphire Reserve card? If yes, what has your experience been like? Tell us in the comments section.
