Both Chase and Amex refreshed their top of the line credit cards this year with much fanfare. In response to Amex’s launch, Chase has made swift amends by making subtle changes and making minor tweaks (the change to the Edit credit is one such example). However, as per a new press release, the Chase Sapphire Reserve is now about to get some more benefits due to Chase’s extended agreement with World of Hyatt.

Is this Chase Ultimate Rewards points glitch affecting you too?

Chase Sapphire Reserve: New Hyatt specific benefits

You can read the entire press release here. Obviously, like any other press release, there’s general optimism about the growth and extension of the partnership.

Hyatt expects a significant increase in economics following the expanded agreement with Chase, driven by the expanded collaboration, the continued growth of World of Hyatt membership, the strength of Hyatt’s global portfolio of premium brands serving travelers with high disposable incomes, and Hyatt’s robust hotel room pipeline in sought-after destinations. The expanded collaboration is expected to drive additional stays to Hyatt properties from other Chase cardmembers via Chase Travel and Chase Ultimate Rewards. World of Hyatt Explorist status will be added as a benefit for top spending Chase Sapphire Reserve and Sapphire Reserve for Business cardmembers beginning in the middle of 2026. Hyatt will also continue to increase the number of luxury and premium brands, such as Park Hyatt and Alila, participating in The Edit by Chase Travel.

Here are the key takeaways:

  • By around mid-2026, Chase and Hyatt will add a new benefit for big spenders on the Chase Sapphire Reserve card. In addition to all the benefits that you’re currently receiving, cardmembers who spend $75,000 or more will also receive complimentary World of Hyatt Explorist status.
  • Chase will be adding more Hyatt portfolio properties to their The Edit collection, especially for premium brands like Park Hyatt and Alila. Once these are available as part of the Edit collection, you will be able to redeem points at these properties at a rate of 2 cents per point.

The Pundit’s Mantra

Overall, these brand new benefits are great additions to the card for someone who already has the Chase Sapphire Reserve in their wallet and stays quite frequently at properties in the World of Hyatt portfolio. While the Explorist status may be more geared towards high spenders, the ability to redeem Chase points at two cents a piece at more Hyatt properties is always a welcome new addition to the card.

  1. So having the card is no longer enough, it’s how much you spend on the card. Careful, you are taking value away from the prestige card for the rest of us. Is this why you hiked the fee so high this year?

    1. That’s the trend with a lot of premium products lately. However, what will be inetesting to see how the new Edit hotels show up with Hyatt and if there’s a significant chink of properties available for booking.
