The New York Times is reporting that Deutsche Bank has agreed to sell The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas (one of my favorite Vegas resorts) to the Blackstone Group for about $1.73 billion in cash.
“As a significant investor in the hospitality sector Blackstone recognizes the value and potential in the Cosmopolitan and Las Vegas and looks forward to working to build on the success to date,” Tyler Henritze, a senior managing director at Blackstone, said in a statement.
The Blackstone Group, a private equity firm, owns Hilton Worldwide (formerly, Hilton Hotels Corporation) which hosts the Hilton HHonors loyalty program. However, Cosmo currently recognizes Marriott status through the Marriott Rewards loyalty program, including a priority check-in area and point redemption (Marriott Rewards category: 9).
Will Hilton HHonors pick up a major player on the Vegas Strip!?
Some resorts on or near the Strip where you currently may use your Hilton connections include:
- Elara (behind Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino)
- Flamingo (Hilton Grand Vacations Suites)
- Tropicana (DoubleTree)
The Cosmopolitan would be a GREAT addition in my mind! It WOULD be the “right amount of wrong” for me! Stay tuned and please let me know if you hear more.
