Do you know you can tour the British Airways Landor Boeing 747 in April?

Once upon a time, British Airways painted one of their jumbo jets in a heritage livery. This became known as the Landor Boeing 747, named for the design company that originally produced the gorgeous scheme.

When the UK carrier retired their 747 fleet, the Landor aircraft went to Dunsfold Aerodrome in Surrey. It is currently parked there and is now being opened for visitors and photographers on 2 April 2022.

Visit the BA Landor Boeing 747

According to aviation lore, everyone loves the Boeing 747. Nobody says a bad word about the Queen of the Skies, and if she had not been superseded by modern technology twins, she would still be being made today. Since opportunities to fly on one are few and far between, the next best thing is a ground visit.

The day experience will run from 10am to 6pm, with last entry at 3pm. You will be able to crawl all over the plane, exploring the cockpit, cabin and everywhere else. All the details are here. Tickets are £26.50 for people aged 10 and over, while younger humans may visit free.

Aviation photographer types are not being left out either, with a Landor Boeing 747 night shoot happening the same day. LED lighting will be setup and people will be able to take pictures in this setting. Tickets for this are £42.40 and it will run from 6:30pm to 9:30pm.

During the day, there will be outdoor catering available, as well as traders selling aviation memorabilia. Good times ahead for the aviation lovers among us!

Overall Thoughts

This event with the Landor Boeing 747 was to have taken place in October 2021, but ended up being postponed. Anyone with tickets for that will be able to use them here.

Seeing an aircraft up close and personal is a very interesting experience. I did a Platinum Tour at the Qantas Founders Museum in Longreach, Australia once and even got to crawl all over another Qantas Boeing 747 at HARS near Sydney. It’s a lot of fun and very informative.

Will you be attending this event? What are your thoughts on aviation museums in general? Thank you for reading and if you have any comments or questions, please leave them below.

Most beautiful livery to grace a BOAC or British Airways aircraft. A damn shame it was retired in the name of woke world flags.
