It has been a busy week in the travel credit card space. The big refresh to the Chase Sapphire Reserve was the talk of the town. However, Amex played the media game smartly by announcing the news about the upcoming changes to the Amex Platinum card this Fall, close on the heels of the Sapphire Reserve relaunch announcement. That and more as we wrap up some of the stories from the past week.

Changes coming to the Amex Platinum card this Fall

Just around the news of the refresh to the Chase Sapphire Reserve, Amex announced that they’ll be making changes to both consumer and business versions of their Platinum card. While we don’t know details about the changes yet, there’s a good chance that we’ll see some announcement this September.

Now, that number could well go to 9 as rumors swirl around Delta and Amex planning to launch a premium credit card one level above the current lineup of Reserve credit cards.

Business Platinum Card devalues key benefit ahead of card refresh

As mentioned earlier, Amex will be refreshing both consumer and business versions of their Platinum cards. As part of that refresh, we’ll now see a popular benefit go away.
