American Express has a very generous referral program. If you have a card that earns Membership Rewards points, Amex lets you refer across their entire card portfolio. Amex offers these referral bonuses, starting as low as 5,000 points all the way up to 20,000 points. Currently, Amex has increased the referral bonus on their Amex Gold Card. If you refer a friend and Amex approves your friend, you’ll earn a 20,000 Membership Rewards points referral bonus.
Amex Gold Card
The Amex Gold Card has been a card that I’ve carried for almost a decade. I love transferring my Amex Membership Rewards points to their airline partners in order to book flights using miles. I also leverage transfer bonuses frequently in order to get a little bit extra on redemptions. Most importantly, I find it very easy to earn points. The card offers 3x on flights, 4x on restaurants worldwide, and 4x points per dollar spent on grocery in the US.
Currently, if you refer a friend, your friend will earn 50,000 Membership Rewards points as a welcome bonus.
