While we’ve seen some record welcome bonuses over the last few years, we’re also seeing airlines and hotels increase redemption prices. In this post, I argued why the miles and points may be getting tougher instead of easier. Singapore Airlines has always occupied a special place in the minds of many frequent flyers over the years, thanks to them consistently offering a reliable hard and soft product around the world. However, Singapore Airlines is about to increase their prices on many premium cabin redemptions. If you’re looking to book at lower prices, then now is the perfect time to go for it.
Singapore Airlines Devaluation Starting Nov 1
Singapore has announced a slew of changes, which also includes new redemption options. However, premium cabin redemption prices are set to increase.
Redeem with Scoot
You can now redeem your KrisFlyer miles on Scoot as well. Scoot is a Singapore Airlines owned subsidiary which primarily operates shorter flights across South East Asia.
Award rates for flight redemption and upgrades will also be adjusted.
Access Redemption Awards
Starting November 1, 2025, Singapore Airlines will be launching the option of Access Redemptions for members. With this, what one can essentially do is pay KrisFlyer miles to immediately confirm tickets whenever a seat is available. The airline says that how many miles one may need to pay would depend on the demand for seats. A few things to remember:
- Access seats will be available over and above award seat availability. In essence, I see this as an attempt to make members spend more closer to the flying date by charging them a variable price in miles in order to secure a seat once award seats are sold out.
- Also, I see this an attempt to get around the whole waitlisting concept as your flight date draws closer. Simply put, you may have to pay extra miles if you wish to secure that seat well in advance. Again, the feature will roll out in November so we’ll only know more details once we see real time pricing for award flights and access awards.
- Access redemptions are only going to be available for flights operated by Singapore Airlines. Also, you will not be able to use access redemptions to upgrade existing flights.

Updated Award Charts
Singapore Airlines KrisfFlyer program operates a Zone based award chart. Starting November 1, 2025. Singapore Airlines is making changes to the chart.
- Economy Saver Awards are about to become cheaper by 5% for flights within Asia and Southwest Pacific (Zone 1-9)
- Business and Suites/First Awards are about to become expensive by another 5% for Zone 1-9
Here’s the kicker:
- For flights to and from the US and Europe (Zone 11-13), flight prices will increase by 5% for all cabins
- For flights to and from the Middle East, Africa and Turkey, rates will increase by 10-20%
- Advantage Awards for all zones and cabin classes (barring Zone 10), will also go up by 10-15%
The Pundit’s Mantra
Unless economy saver awards are your thing, this is a negative change for a lot of us. In essence, you’ll be paying higher prices when you redeem out of the US or Europe for premium cabins.
- One way Saver award from the US West Coast to Singapore will be at 112,500 miles in Business and 154,000 miles in First Class
- One way Saver award from the US West Coast to Singapore will be at 117,000 miles in Business and 156,000 miles in First Class
