So, Amex is not killing any existing benefits, while added new ones and enhancing a few. Here’s what you need to know. All the new benefits are available for use right away for existing and new cardholders.

1. Annual Fee

The Annual Fee moving forward will be %895, with an extra $195 for each authorized user but no fees on companion cards. If you’re an existing cardholder though, you’ll not see the higher annual fee until the renewal date of Jan 2, 2026.

2. Design

You now have the option to select your card with a brand new ‘mirror finish’. You can also opt for the standard design.

3. $600 Hotel Credit

You’ll now enjoy a total of $600 in hotel credits with Amex’s Fine Hotels & Resorts Collection and the Hotel Collection. You’ll earn the credit bi-annually, with $300 split half way through the year.

4. $300 Lululemon Credit

You can earn up to $300 in Lululcmon credits when you shop in store or online. These credits are split quarterly, you’ll earn a maximum of $75 in credits each quarter.

5. $400 Resy Credit

You’ll earn up to $400 each calendar year when you use your cards at restaurants that are a part of Resy’s program. You’ll earn $100 in credits each quarter. Bear in mind, these credits are only valid for Resy restaurants in the US.

6. $200 Uber Cash Credit & $120 Uber One Credit

In addition to the Uber card you’re currently earning, you’ll also earn complimentary Uber One membership when you link your card and auto renew monthly membership with Uber One, which costs $9.99 per month. This covers your membership and gives you benefits like added discounts on rides and cheaper deliveries with Uber Eats.

7. $300 Digital Entertainment Credit

Amex has now increase this benefit to $25 per month. In addition to all the existing platforms like Hulu, Disney+, New York Times and more, you’ll now enjoy the credit when you pay for YouTube TV, YouTube Music and YouTube Premium.

8. Oura Ring Credit

Oura ring is a tracker that helps you monitor various physiological metrics, from sleep and cardiovascular performance to reproductive health. You’ll earn a maximum of $200 every calendar year for qualifying purchases at Ouraring.com.

9. Leading Hotels of the World Elite Status

You will now enjoy complimentary Sterling Status with Leading Hotels of the World. This gets you complimentary breakfast for two, in addition to free wifi and enhance upgrade eligibility.

10.  $209 Clear Plus Credit

Amex is increasing the credit to $209 to accommodate for the increase in price of Clear Plus’s membership fee from $199 to $209.

The Pundit’s Mantra

Overall, I think this refresh is a bit for everyone. It also emphasizes Amex’s focus on both travel and lifestyle (shopping). I picked up the Amex Platinum Card back in the day when it still had an annual fee of $450 and was a purely travel focused premium credit card. Over the years, we’ve seen the card evolve to a much different younger and urban demographic, with a focus on travel, shopping, dining and entertainment.

What do you think about the Amex Platinum Card’s latest avatar? As a current cardholder, do you plan to keep the card or cancel? If you’re eligible as a new customer, then do you plan to apply for the card right away? Tell us in the comments section.
