Last summer, Chase refreshed the Chase Sapphire Reserve card, adding new benefits, but also increased the annual fee to $795. After Chase’s refresh, many people were expecting a really high welcome bonus offer, but that didn’t quite materialize.

Chase Sapphire Reserve: Targeted 200,000 Points Offer!

At the moment, the publicly available offer on the Chase Sapphire Reserve is still pretty good. With this offer, you’ll earn a welcome bonus of 125,000 Chase Ultimate Rewards points. You’ll earn the bonus once you spend $6,000 in the first three months of card membership. The annual fee for the card is $795 and you’ll pay an extra $195 for each authorized user.

However, as per Doctor of Credit, Chase is sending out targeted offers to people with Chase Private Client account with elevated welcome bonus offers. This offer has a higher spend threshold for the bonus. However, you can earn a massive welcome bonus of 200,000 Chase Ultimate Rewards points after you spend $10,000 in the first three months of card membership.

If you’re looking for a card that’s more reasonably priced but offers stellar travel benefits, then the Chase Sapphire Preferred is also offering a higher than usual welcome bonus. With this offer, you’ll earn a welcome bonus of 75,000 Chase Ultimate Rewards points after you spend $5,000 in the first 3 months of card membership.  Compared to the Chase Sapphire Reserve card, the Chase Sapphire Preferred card charges an annual fee of just $95. Moreover, in addition to earning bonus points on travel and dining, you also earn a $50 hotel credit with Chase during every card anniversary year.

The Pundit’s Mantra

While the annual fee on the card is steep, a huge 200,000 points bonus is incredibly tempting if you’re targeted. If you’re eligible for this offer as a Chase Private Client, then you should ideally receive the offer via email. I’m currently carrying the Chase Sapphire Preferred Card in my wallet, a card I’ve carried for a decade and don’t plan to cancel.
