In a welcome departure from the string of ugly concrete rooftop views we’ve seen for most of Travel Update’s “Worst view ever?” series, this week’s contender shows a road warrior’s view from an InterContinental hotel of…another hotel!
That’s right, another hotel – and a nice one at that.

Last Tuesday while in downtown Miami, futurist and speaker Jim Carroll sent me a Tweet nominating his view from the InterContinental Miami (above) as a “worst view ever” contender.
Turns out the view from his window displayed another building that happens to be another upscale hotel; the other hotel has a sexy rooftop pool, which I’m sure would have been a welcome improvement, but that’s not what his room overlooked!
We’ve had one other “worst view ever” nomination that showed a typical Hong Kong apartment building from a Sheraton hotel – but never one that showed another hotel.

In Carroll’s case, his take on the view stemmed partially from boredom.
He’s had the view more than once over the last year and a half – each time he’s stayed at the hotel to speak at a conference.
“Same view 5 times,” Carroll told me in one of his Twitter messages.
That’s unfortunate because, had Carroll been given different room, he might have had views of the port, where cruise ships arrive and depart, or broader views of downtown Miami (see below).
